Cortijo El Ciruelo is a large farmhouse, typifying the traditional architecture of rural Andalucia with over 200 years of history. As befits its rural location, it was formerly one of the main estates in the area with extensive almond groves and large herds of goats in its rustic heyday. Fully renovated, it is ideally suited to the provision of comfortable b&b accommodation for those who choose to explore the beautiful Los Velez area of Andalucia. The guesthouse b&b is 1,000m above sea level and is surrounded by mature pine forests. It sits at the base of El Mojonar on the edge of the Sierra Maria, one of the finest National Parks in Spain. The National Park covers some 55,600 acres of Andalucia that is an outstandingly beautiful landscape replete with rugged mountains, pine forests and holm oak plantations. Situated on the edge of the region known as Los Velez, the guesthouse b&b is just 3km from the A92N with the final 1.5km being a track through almond groves. The nearest towns are Chirivel at 10km and Velez Rubio at 14km, while Velez Blanco is 20 km away. These are typical of the smaller towns found in Andalucia with beautiful churches, striking castles and fascinating Moorish ruins as well as a range of restaurants, bars and shops.
